Privacy Policy

SkylightBlinds.ie is the controller of the personal information described in this policy. You can contact us about privacy at any time:

We collect information you give us directly:

• Contact details: your name, email address and phone number.
• Delivery details: your delivery address, including Eircode.
• Order details: the blinds and accessories you choose, including window code, fabric, frame colour, operation type and quantity, any order notes, prices and order status.
• Payment references: references from our payment provider confirming whether a payment succeeded, failed, expired or was refunded. Card details are entered on Stripe's secure checkout page; we do not receive or store your full card number.
• Messages: what you send us through our contact form, by email or by phone.
• Files you attach: photos or PDFs you choose to upload with a contact form enquiry (for example a photo of your window's identification plate). They are kept in private storage that only our staff can open, used only to answer your enquiry, and deleted once no longer needed for it. Please avoid including people or other personal details in photos.
• Staff account details: where an account is used (for example by our staff), sign-in credentials are handled by our authentication provider. Passwords are not visible to us.

We also receive limited technical information, such as request and security logs kept by our hosting and service providers, where needed to run and protect the website.

The contact and delivery details requested at checkout are needed to make, deliver and support your order. If you do not provide them, we cannot fulfil the order.

• To take, make and deliver your order, process payment, send order and delivery updates, and handle cancellations, returns and refunds. Legal basis: performing our contract with you, or steps you ask us to take before entering into one.
• To answer your questions, operate and secure our website, prevent fraud and deal with claims or disputes. Legal basis: our legitimate interests, which we balance against your rights and interests.
• To keep business, tax and accounting records. Legal basis: compliance with legal obligations.
• Website analytics (Google Analytics). Legal basis: legitimate interests in understanding and improving our website; you can turn it off at any time.

We send service emails about your order or enquiry, such as payment receipts, dispatch updates and replies to messages. These are not marketing. We do not currently send marketing newsletters. Placing an order does not by itself sign you up for marketing; we would only send it where the law permits, and you could opt out at any time by contacting us or using the unsubscribe link provided.

We share personal information only where needed, with:

• our staff who need it to handle your order or enquiry;
• providers that host our website, database and sign-in services;
• Stripe, which processes card payments. See the Stripe Privacy Policy;
• our email delivery provider, which sends order and enquiry emails for us;
• Google, for website analytics;
• manufacturers, fulfilment partners and couriers who make and deliver your order;
• professional advisers, and authorities or courts where the law requires it.

We do not sell or rent your personal information.

Our website loads fonts from Google Fonts. When it does, Google receives your IP address and basic browser information needed to deliver the font files.

Some of our service providers may process information outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, the transfer must be protected as required by GDPR, for example by an adequacy decision or approved contractual protections. Contact us for more information.

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, including:

• completing your order, payment checks, delivery, support and any returns;
• meeting legal accounting and tax record-keeping obligations;
• dealing with disputes, claims, fraud prevention and security.

If you start a checkout but do not finish paying, the details you entered are kept only as long as needed for checkout, payment reconciliation and security. The payment page closes after a period, but that does not by itself delete the details. We do not promise automatic deletion within a fixed number of days. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

Our website saves your basket in your browser's local storage, so it is still there when you come back. It stays on your device until you check out, empty your basket or clear your browser data.

We also use storage that is strictly necessary for sign-in, payment and security, including on Stripe's checkout page.

We use Google Analytics (provided by Google) on www.skylightblinds.ie to count which pages are visited so we can improve the site. It loads automatically when you visit and sets Google Analytics cookies (such as _ga) in your browser. We send only a general page address and page title, never anything after a "?" in the address, order references, your name, email, phone, address, messages or file names, and we do not track admin or sign-in pages. Google also receives your IP address and basic browser information when the analytics script loads. Google Signals, advertising features and ad personalisation are switched off, and we do not use advertising cookies. Legal basis: our legitimate interests in understanding and improving our website. You can object at any time using "Turn analytics on/off" in the footer, which stops analytics on that browser and deletes the Google Analytics cookies, or by blocking cookies in your browser. You can clear or block cookies and site storage in your browser settings. If you do, your basket may be emptied and some features, such as checkout or signing in, may not work.

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect personal information, such as restricted staff access and secure connections. No website or online service can be guaranteed completely secure.

Under GDPR, where it applies, you have the right to:

• access your personal information and get a copy;
• have inaccurate information corrected;
• have information erased;
• restrict how we use it;
• object to our use of it, including for direct marketing;
• data portability;
• withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent. This does not affect processing that happened before you withdrew it.

If the law allows us more time because a request is complex or there are many of them, we will tell you and explain why.

Our website links to other websites, such as Stripe. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their privacy policies.
